Before you create an account
Moonstration is built for women, whether you menstruate, are perimenopausal or postmenopausal, or have had a hysterectomy, tracking plant growth, moon phases and, if you choose, your cycle, in good faith. By selecting "I Affirm" below, you confirm that you are a woman who menstruates, is perimenopausal or postmenopausal, or has had a hysterectomy and intend to use Moonstration for that purpose. Affirming this falsely breaks the Purchase Agreement and carries $25,000 in agreed damages, plus costs. If that does not describe you, please select "This is not true for me" — we will not be able to create an account for you.

The short version
- Your journal is private unless you choose to share an entry with your Moon Group or the Comoonity.
- Your cycle days are encrypted on your own device. Only you can read them, not even Moonstration.
- Payments go through Stripe. Your card number never reaches us. We never sell your information.
- You can download or delete everything, anytime, from Settings.
What we collect
Your account details (name, email, phone if you give one, and sign-in information); what you create in your journal (day notes, plant findings, photos, plant names, measurements, charts and messages); your Moonstration (cycle) days if you turn on cycle tracking (encrypted so only you can read them; see below); your birth date, time and place if you choose to add a birth chart; the details you give when you order from our store; and the technical information needed to run the service, like when you log in and which browser you use.
How we use it
To run your account and journal, to take subscription and store payments through Stripe, to send and track store orders, to send the emails you ask for (like order confirmations and back-in-stock notices), and to power the sharing features you choose to use (Moon Groups and the Comoonity). We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t use advertising trackers.
Your Moonstration (cycle) days are yours alone
If you track your cycle, your Moonstration days are encrypted on your own device before they’re saved, with a key unlocked by your password and a recovery code that only you have. We store only the encrypted form, which can’t be read without your password or your recovery code, so no one at Moonstration, including our admin, and no other website or service can read your cycle days from what we store. A long, unique password keeps them safest.
They’re never part of an account backup, and they’re never shared with your Moon Group or the Comoonity. Because only you hold the key, if you reset your password you’ll need your recovery code to unlock them; without it, no one can recover them. You can download your cycle days from Settings at any time.
Sharing, Moon Groups and the Comoonity
Everything in your journal is private by default. When you choose to share an entry with your Moon Group, the members of that group can see it, along with its photos; when you share it with specific members you pick, only they can; and when you share it with the Comoonity, other Moonstration members can see it. Messages you send in a group chat are seen by that group, messages in the Comoonity’s Live Chat by the Comoonity, and private messages by the person you send them to.
Following: a member can ask to follow you, and it takes your approval. You can share with specific members, and chat privately one on one, only with members you follow each other with (private chats come with the Comoonity and Group plans). Who you follow and who follows you is seen only by the two of you. If either of you unfollows or removes the other, the private chat closes and what you shared with each other stops being shared. You can keep yourself out of the search members use to find someone to follow, in Settings.
Other members can’t attach your photos to their own entries or re-share them on Moonstration. When another member views your photos, they show that member’s chat username and a trace code, so a screenshot can be traced back to the account that took it; only our admin can look a trace code up. In the same way, other members’ photos show your username and trace code while you view them. If someone saves your photo, or their device signals a screenshot (for example, the Print Screen key) while your photo is on their screen, we tell you on screen and by email, using their chat username, never their email. Other members’ photos don’t print. Many screenshots, such as those taken on a phone, can’t be detected by any website, and anything shown on a screen can still be photographed, so please share only what you’re comfortable with others seeing.
Photo storage
Your photos are kept in private storage with our database and storage provider, Supabase. They aren’t public: only you, and the people you share an entry with, can see them. They’re deleted when you delete them or your account. Your profile picture is the exception: it’s public, so anyone with its link can see it. Choose one you’re happy for anyone to see.
Store orders and back-in-stock emails
When you buy from our store, Stripe’s checkout collects your name, email, phone number, and billing and shipping addresses. We use them to send your order, to contact you about it, and for our business and tax records. Only our admin can see them. If you ask to be emailed when an item is back in stock, we use your email only for that.
Your Purchase Agreement
When you sign up, you agree to our Purchase Agreement. We keep a copy of exactly what you agreed to, with your name, member code, email, phone (if you gave one), plan, and the time, IP address and browser you agreed from. Only you (in Settings) and our admin can see it. Because it’s a signed agreement, it’s kept as a legal record even if you delete your account. Your member code also appears on other members’ photos while you view them, so a screenshot can be traced.
Your secure account backup
We keep a secure backup of each member’s basic account details (email, chat username, plan, sign-up date and birth chart) so we can identify members in the event of a data breach, or when we’re required to comply with a legal request or another compliance obligation. You can choose in Settings to add more to your backup, such as day notes, photos or plant measurements; cycle days are never included. Backups are stored privately, only Moonstration’s admin can open them, every opening is recorded, copies older than 30 days are removed, and your whole backup is deleted when you delete your account.
Keeping the community safe
If a member breaks our Community Guidelines, for example with racism or hate speech, our admin may review that account’s posts, shared entries and messages, including private messages that member sent, and keep a copy to enforce our rules or when the law requires it. Cycle days are never part of this; they can’t be read by anyone but you.
Subscriptions and payments
Moonstration memberships are billed through Stripe, and payments are made to Moonstration LLC. We never see or store your card number. You can view, change or cancel your plan anytime from your account’s billing settings.
Who helps us run Moonstration
Supabase (our database, sign-in and photo storage), Vercel (which hosts the website), Stripe (payments) and Resend (which delivers our emails). They handle your information only to provide those services to us. Everything between your device and Moonstration travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
Keeping and deleting your information
You can download a copy of your data or permanently delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account removes your journal, photos, cycle days, groups, messages and backup, and cancels any active subscription. Records of store orders are kept for our business and tax records, no longer linked to an account, your signed Purchase Agreement is kept as a legal record, and Stripe keeps its own payment records under its own policy.
Your choices
You can see and download your information, correct it, choose what you share and what goes in your backup, turn cycle tracking on or off, and delete your account, all from Settings. If you’d like help with any of these, or the laws where you live give you other privacy rights, write to us and we’ll help.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top, and for important changes we’ll let members know before they take effect.
